Description
A brand-new two-bedroom lodge with a hot tub sunk into fully enclosed private decking, three and a half miles from St Andrews at Stewarts Resort. Sleeping four, with the best-equipped kitchen of any of our lodges — dishwasher and washing machine both — and dogs welcome. Guests have free use of the resort's health spa, gym, sauna and steam room.
Inside
Everything here is new, which is worth saying plainly: new furnishings, new appliances, nothing tired or making do. The open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge area has an elegant dining table, an electric fire and patio doors opening straight onto the deck. The lounge has comfortable seating and a sofa bed for extra guests.
The kitchen is the most complete in our portfolio: fridge-freezer, gas cooker with grill and oven, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, toaster and kettle. Having both a dishwasher and a washing machine sounds like a small thing until you're four people into day five of a week away.

Patio doors open onto private, fully enclosed decking with the hot tub sunk into it. Sunken means easier to get in and out of and a cleaner line across the deck; enclosed means privacy from your neighbours and somewhere secure for a dog to be off the lead or children to be outside without constant watching.
Private parking for two cars at the lodge, with additional parking next to the main building if you need it. EV charging points on site.
Where you are
Stewarts Resort sits in Fife countryside with a designated footpath down to Cameron Reservoir.
If you bring bikes, this is good country for them. Away from the main roads Fife is a network of quiet farm lanes running between villages, with gentle gradients and very little traffic once you're a mile from anywhere. The run down the coast through the East Neuk links Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem, St Monans and Elie in a morning, with a harbour and somewhere to eat at each. Inland, the lanes towards Ceres and Falkland give you rolling farmland and the Lomond Hills on the horizon. North of St Andrews, the forest tracks at Tentsmuir make for easy off-road riding that comes out onto a wild beach. There's no bike hire on the resort, so bring your own if you fancy it.
Otherwise: St Andrews is three and a half miles away with an hourly bus from the front of the resort — the Old Course and the links, the cathedral and castle ruins, the university quarter, the shops and two miles of beach at West Sands. Edinburgh is around an hour and a half by car or train.

Please charge electric vehicles at the resort's commercial charging point rather than using the lodge's own supply. Glass tumblers and bottles aren't allowed in the hot tub, so please use plastic. There is a strict no-noise policy after 10 pm, so please be considerate of your neighbours. A damages deposit is pre-authorised before arrival and released 72 hours after departure, provided no damage has been caused.

Where most self-catering lodges settle for beige, this one has some confidence about it — traditional Scottish warmth combined with bold contemporary decor, so it feels like somewhere with a personality rather than a room you're passing through. Open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area with an electric fire for cooler evenings, a television and Wi-Fi throughout.
The kitchen is well equipped for self-catering, with a fridge, freezer, hob, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle and a countertop dishwasher — the last of which quietly makes a week here easier than it would otherwise be.

Worth knowing before you book: the en-suite has a toilet and basin but no shower, so all four guests share the walk-in shower in the family bathroom. It's not usually an issue for four, but if separate shower rooms matter to you, several of our other lodges have them and we're happy to point you to the right one.

Private, fully enclosed decking with outdoor furniture — somewhere secure for a dog to be off the lead, and private enough to sit out with a coffee without feeling overlooked. The resort's landscaped gardens are on your doorstep for a wander beyond that.

Where you are
Stewarts Resort sits in landscaped grounds and woodland with a designated footpath down to Cameron Reservoir.
This is one of the easier lodges to enjoy without a car. The bus stops directly at the resort gates and runs hourly into St Andrews, which puts the Old Course and the links, the cathedral and castle ruins, the university quarter, the shops and two miles of beach at West Sands all within reach for the price of a ticket. From St Andrews, buses run on down the coast through the East Neuk to Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem and Elie, so a day of harbour-hopping needs no driving at all. Leuchars station is a short hop away, with trains to Dundee in twenty minutes and Edinburgh in a little over an hour.
If you are driving, everything above is closer still, and Kingsbarns Distillery and the beaches south of St Andrews are easy afternoons.

Autumn and winter are quietly the best time to have this part of Fife to yourself, and this is a good lodge for it. The beaches that are busy in August are empty by October — West Sands stretching two miles with nobody on it, Kingsbarns backed by dunes with the wind coming straight off the North Sea. The East Neuk harbours at Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem and Elie are working villages rather than holiday ones, so they carry on regardless of season, and the pubs are warmer for it. On a wild day the coast path between St Monans and Elie is worth doing just for the sea state.
Then you come back, put the washing on, run a bath and sit in front of the fire.
