Accommodation
Description
A two-bedroom lodge with fully enclosed private decking, three and a half miles from St Andrews at Stewarts Resort. Sleeping four, with a bath and overhead shower in the family bathroom, a dishwasher and washing machine in the kitchen, and dogs welcome. Guests have free use of the resort's health spa, gym, sauna and steam room. Please note this lodge does not have a hot tub — but it does have a proper bath, which for a long soak after a cold day on the coast some guests prefer.
Inside
An open, modern kitchen, dining and lounge area with a dining table and chairs, ample seating, an electric fire and patio doors leading straight onto the deck. Free Wi-Fi throughout.
The kitchen is one of the best equipped in our portfolio: a spacious fridge-freezer, gas cooker with grill and oven, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, toaster and kettle. Having both a dishwasher and a washing machine makes a full week here considerably easier than it would otherwise be.
Sleeping
Main bedroom with a double bed and en-suite toilet and wash hand basin
Twin bedroom with two single beds
Family bathroom with a bath and overhead shower, wash hand basin and toilet
Sofa bed in the lounge
Bed linen and towels are provided for the bedrooms. The sofa bed in the lounge is not made up as standard — if you'd like to use it, please either add the linen supplement when booking or bring your own bedding. Do let us know at the time of booking so we can have it prepared before you arrive.
Outside
Patio doors open onto a fully enclosed private deck — private from your neighbours and secure enough for a dog to be off the lead or children to be outside without constant watching.
Private parking for two cars at the lodge, with additional parking next to the main building if you need it. EV charging points available on the resort.
Where you are
Stewarts Resort sits in countryside with a designated footpath down to Cameron Reservoir.
Autumn and winter are quietly the best time to have this part of Fife to yourself, and this is a good lodge for it. The beaches that are busy in August are empty by October — West Sands stretching two miles with nobody on it, Kingsbarns backed by dunes with the wind coming straight off the North Sea. The East Neuk harbours at Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem and Elie are working villages rather than holiday ones, so they carry on regardless of season, and the pubs are warmer for it. On a wild day the coast path between St Monans and Elie is worth doing just for the sea state.
Then you come back, put the washing on, run a bath and sit in front of the fire. St Andrews is three and a half miles away with an hourly bus from the front of the resort — the Old Course and the links, the cathedral and castle ruins, the university quarter and the shops. Edinburgh is around an hour and a half by car or train.
Good to know
Check-in from 4 pm, check-out by 10 am. Early check-in or later check-out can sometimes be arranged with us in advance for a fee. Up to two small dogs are welcome, with a supplement. The lodge is non-smoking inside; smoking is permitted outside, and we ask that you dispose of cigarette ends responsibly. Parking is for two cars at the lodge; any additional vehicles can use the parking next to the main building. Please charge electric vehicles at the resort's commercial charging point rather than using the lodge's own supply. There is a strict no-noise policy after 10 pm, so please be considerate of your neighbours. A damages deposit is pre-authorised before arrival and released 72 hours after departure, provided no damage has been caused.

A two-bedroom lodge with bold, characterful decor and fully enclosed private decking, three and a half miles from St Andrews at Stewarts Resort. Sleeping four, with dogs welcome and free use of the resort's health spa, gym, sauna and steam room. Please note this lodge does not have a hot tub; several of our others do, if that's important to you.
Inside
Where most self-catering lodges settle for beige, this one has some confidence about it — traditional Scottish warmth combined with bold contemporary decor, so it feels like somewhere with a personality rather than a room you're passing through. Open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area with an electric fire for cooler evenings, a television and Wi-Fi throughout.
The kitchen is well equipped for self-catering, with a fridge, freezer, hob, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle and a countertop dishwasher — the last of which quietly makes a week here easier than it would otherwise be.
Sleeping
Main bedroom with a double bed and en-suite toilet and washbasin
Twin bedroom
Family bathroom with a walk-in shower, toilet and sink
Worth knowing before you book: the en-suite has a toilet and basin but no shower, so all four guests share the walk-in shower in the family bathroom. It's not usually an issue for four, but if separate shower rooms matter to you, several of our other lodges have them and we're happy to point you to the right one.
Bed linen and towels are provided.
Outside
Private, fully enclosed decking with outdoor furniture — somewhere secure for a dog to be off the lead, and private enough to sit out with a coffee without feeling overlooked. The resort's landscaped gardens are on your doorstep for a wander beyond that.
Private parking for two cars at the lodge, with additional parking next to the main building if you need it. EV charging points available on the resort.
Where you are
Stewarts Resort sits in landscaped grounds and woodland with a designated footpath down to Cameron Reservoir.
This is one of the easier lodges to enjoy without a car. The bus stops directly at the resort gates and runs hourly into St Andrews, which puts the Old Course and the links, the cathedral and castle ruins, the university quarter, the shops and two miles of beach at West Sands all within reach for the price of a ticket. From St Andrews, buses run on down the coast through the East Neuk to Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem and Elie, so a day of harbour-hopping needs no driving at all. Leuchars station is a short hop away, with trains to Dundee in twenty minutes and Edinburgh in a little over an hour.
If you are driving, everything above is closer still, and Kingsbarns Distillery and the beaches south of St Andrews are easy afternoons.

A two-bedroom lodge with a sunken hot tub on fully enclosed decking and open views across the countryside, three and a half miles from St Andrews at Stewarts Resort. Sleeping four, with two bathrooms rather than the usual one — including a bath in the en-suite, which is rare across our lodges. Dogs are welcome, and guests have free use of the resort's health spa, gym, sauna and steam room. It suits two couples particularly well.
Inside
Open-plan lounge and dining area with a television, Wi-Fi throughout and an electric fire for cooler evenings, looking out across open countryside.
The kitchen is well appointed for self-catering, with a fridge, freezer, hob, oven, microwave, toaster and kettle.
Sleeping
Main bedroom with a double bed and en-suite bathroom, with a bath, overhead shower, toilet and sink
Twin bedroom
Second bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink
Two full bathrooms for four guests is the thing that makes this lodge work for two couples sharing — nobody is queuing, and the en-suite bath is a genuine luxury when most self-catering lodges offer a shower enclosure and little else. Sleeps four adults comfortably.
Bed linen and towels are provided. Please bring your own towels for the hot tub.
Outside
A fully enclosed deck with a hot tub sunk into the decking, looking out over the countryside. The enclosure gives you privacy from your neighbours and somewhere secure for a dog to be off the lead, while the outlook beyond stays open.
Private parking for two cars at the lodge, with additional parking next to the main building if you need it. EV charging points available on the resort.
Where you are
Stewarts Resort sits in landscaped grounds and woodland with a designated footpath down to Cameron Reservoir.
There's more going on culturally in this corner of Fife than its size suggests. St Andrews, three and a half miles away, has the Byre Theatre for drama, music and film, and museums covering the town's history and the story of golf. Pittenweem gives its houses and net lofts over to artists for a week each summer, and several of the East Neuk villages keep galleries open year-round. Anstruther's Scottish Fisheries Museum is genuinely good, built around the harbour it describes. Half an hour north, V&A Dundee sits on the waterfront alongside Captain Scott's RRS Discovery — an easy day out and a striking building in its own right.
Add to that the Old Course and the St Andrews links, the cathedral and castle ruins, two miles of beach at West Sands, and the harbours at Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem and Elie. An hourly bus passes the front of the resort, and Edinburgh is around an hour and a half by car or train.
