Where you are
Stewarts Resort sits in landscaped grounds and woodland with a designated footpath down to Cameron Reservoir.
If what you want from a week away is to feel better at the end of it than the start, this lodge is set up for it. The health suite on the resort — gym, sauna and steam room — is free to guests, and the hot tub is outside your door. Between them you could quite reasonably not leave.
When you do, the walking is the best of it. The Fife Coastal Path runs the length of the East Neuk and is waymarked well enough to pick up a section and stop when you've had enough — the stretch between Elie and St Monans takes in cliffs, a ruined church almost in the sea, and a beach at either end. West Sands at St Andrews gives you two miles of open sand for a long flat walk with the wind behind you. Around the resort itself, the footpath to Cameron Reservoir makes an easy circuit before breakfast.
Then there's the rest: the Old Course and the St Andrews links three and a half miles away, the cathedral and castle ruins, the university quarter, and the harbour villages of Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem and Elie. An hourly bus passes the front of the resort, and Edinburgh is around an hour and a half by car or train.
Good to know
Check-in from 4 pm, check-out by 10 am. [Pet policy.] The lodge is non-smoking inside; smoking is permitted outside, and we ask that you dispose of cigarette ends responsibly. Parking is for two cars at the lodge; any additional vehicles can use the parking next to the main building. Please charge electric vehicles at the resort's commercial charging point rather than using the lodge's own supply. Glass tumblers and bottles aren't allowed in the hot tub, so please use plastic. There is a strict no-noise policy after 10 pm, so please be considerate of your neighbours. A damages deposit is pre-authorised before arrival and released 72 hours after departure, provided no damage has been caused.
